In 2017 we formed a partnership with Wolfe Adventure Tours from Boston (USA). Our service tours welcome volunteers from the USA and take place twice a year. One group being teens from Newbury Port Youth Services and the other being a family group, where parents are able to fly out with their children and make a difference together as a family in serving people in need.
The volunteers are informed about challenges kenyan children face in rural villages and then have to design a sustainable solution to address the challenge, fundraise for their project and then come and implement it. The expedition also allows for cross cultural learning for both the international students and the local Kenyan children.
So far the service projects included:
Solar light distribution for school children in rural Kenya so they have light so study in the evenings
Mosquito net distribution to prevent malaria in rural communities
Sanitary towels and hygiene products distribution for school girls
Distribution of water filters to communities to prevent diahorreal diseases like cholera
Distribution of shoes for children as part of a jigger prevention campaign
Construction of eco-fences, sports pitches and planting of trees and vegetable gardens
